Get to Know the 2022 Kia EV6
The new 2022 Kia EV6 is being talked about by drivers all over the country. From first impressions to test drives, it has set the bar high and exceeds all that it promises. From the first glance, you can tell this is a vehicle that will change the market forever. Let’s dive into this revolutionary ride and get to know this year’s talk of the town. The Exterior
The looks of this sport utility vehicle impress everyone who first sees it. The front face paired with the uniquely-designed rims gives off a no-nonsense, lustrous look you won’t soon forget. The front and rear bumpers are body-colored while the fascia accents are black with chrome trimmings. The side and back windows match these with their own black trims. All windows come with deep-tinted privacy glass. The grille is a sleek black, and the backend sports a stylish wing spoiler.
The Interior
The attractive outside of the EV6 hints at the luxury found within. The front seats are heated and ventilated, while the back bench is 60/40 split. The seatbacks can be folded down to give extra room for cargo items. Keep your key fob in your purse or pocket thanks to the proximity sensor and push-button start. Even the liftgate in the back has a proximity latch-release function.
Kia Drive Wise Driver Assist Technology
Collision-Avoidance Assist
This system includes several programs to keep you protected from all sides. The Forward Assist uses sensors to watch out for other cars, cyclists, and pedestrians. It even watches for when cars ahead of you are making turns. There is also a Blind-Spot Assist and a Rear Cross-Traffic Assist.
Driver Attention Warning
This system implements Leading Vehicle Departure Alert as well. It will alert you if the car ahead is moving again after being stationary.
Lane Assist
This system includes Lane Keeping as well as Lane Following. These both work to keep you inside the lines of your own lane at all times.
Smart Cruise Control
This will keep you at a safe distance from the car ahead. The additional Stop & Go-Curve system alerts you when there is an upcoming curve in the road. It strategically reduces the speed and picks it up again once the curve is passed.
Safe Exit Warning
This program protects your passengers from exiting the vehicle roadside. It will alert you if it senses a vehicle approaching from behind.
Parking Guidance
When in reverse, this will use sensors to detect potential obstacles and will warn you if a hazard is imminent. The rearview monitor comes in the form of a live-feed backup camera. With the added Dynamic Parking Guidance, the screen will display guidelines that follow your steering input.

Standford Kitchen
You can order from this place online or by calling them at (410) 902- 1000. The menu here is not the most extensive, but if you know anything about the restaurant business, you know that that’s usually a good thing. It means that instead of over-extending their chefs to provide a large variety of mediocre food, they are concentrating on providing excellent food in their wheelhouse. The food is of the highest quality, and the service here is fast and courteous.
For starters, try their iron skillet cornbread or the delicious chicken meatballs. Then, try their fantastic French dip sandwich, which is slow-roasted prime rib on a toasted baguette served up with their house-made au jus and a horseradish sauce. We are also big fans of their filet mignon salad. It’s seared filet mignon over mixed greens with pear, smoked Gouda, and more. Be sure to follow it up with a slice of their key lime pie.
Glyndon Grill
The Glyndon Grill lives at 4844 Butler Rd., and you can reach them by phone at 443-881-4183. They are open from 11 AM until 10 PM Monday through Thursday, and until 11 PM on Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, they open earlier at 10 AM. On Saturdays, they close at 11, and on Sundays, they close at nine. The food here is of the highest quality, and what’s available depends on whether you order for lunch, dinner, or brunch.
For lunch, we really love their calamari and the teriyaki skewers. They do a fantastic blue crab and roasted corn soup, a really nice roasted beet and goat cheese salad with grilled chicken, and a fantastic array of flatbreads. Try any of their burgers or sandwiches, and even at lunch, you can get great entrées like fish and chips, a rack of ribs, and more. For dinner, they offer the same starters and salads, but they also have big salads and a lot more options in entrées.
Kecco’s Woodfire Kitchen
This is an absolutely delicious restaurant that you can reach either online or by phone at 410-526-6900. They open at noon Tuesday through Sunday. Monday they are closed. They close up for the night at 9 PM on Sunday and from Tuesday through Thursday. On Friday and Saturday, they stay open until 10 PM.
This is a fantastic spot for delicious woodfired pizza, salads, all kinds of pasta, Paninis, and interesting extras like Porchetta sliders, Genovese flatbread, and a crispy truffle mac & cheese. You also don’t want to forget about their desserts. The cannoli, the chocolate soufflé, and the cheesecake are all amazing.
These are just a few of our favorite spots to order delivery, but if you want to get there even faster in a reliable and comfortable Kia, come see us at Koons Kia of Owings Mills.

Does Your Kia Need a Brake Repair?
Good brakes are one of your Kia’s most essential safety features. They allow you to easily control your speed. The brake system can suffer wear and tear, and you’ll need a brake repair. As your Kia dealer, we’d like you to know some of the signs that your brakes need to be checked.
Worn Brake Pads
When you apply the brakes, hydraulic pressure causes the brake calipers to close on either side of the wheel rotors. The calipers contain brake pads and these pads provide the additional friction needed to slow and stop your car. The pads have a 1/2″ thick friction material covering that generates friction against the smooth, flat surface of the wheel rotors.
The pads slowly wear down each time you apply the brakes. When a pad wears down to 1/4″ thick, it’s time to replace them. If the pads aren’t replaced, you hear awful screeching noises as a warning. Eventually, the material will wear off, and you’ll hear a grinding sound as the metal pads dig into the metal rotors. We can easily replace the pads and fix any other problem.
Pulling to One Side
If you step on the brakes and your car pulls to one side before it stops, this represents a serious problem with the brakes. As we’ve seen, the calipers close on the rotors to stop your wheels from turning. The braking system applies equal pressure to the rotors on both sides of your car. When your car pulls to one side, there is a problem with the brake system on the opposite side.
The two main causes of this problem are a jammed caliper and a blockage in the brake hose. Brake fluid exerts hydraulic pressure on the calipers, but a blockage in the hose can prevent the exertion of this pressure. An air bubble in the hose, for example, will prevent the caliper from activating. A damaged brake caliper may be jammed open, and this means the brake on the affected wheel won’t engage.
Slow Working Brakes
Well-serviced brakes will operate almost instantly when you step on the pedal. This efficiency is essential, as good brakes can help prevent a possible accident. As a driver, you depend on a fast response when you mash the pedal. If you experience a delay between stepping on the pedal and your brakes engaging, this is a problem that needs to be fixed ASAP.
We will need to check your braking system to diagnose the exact cause of the problem. One of the most common reasons for slow working brakes is a lack of pressure in the braking system. A brake fluid leak will reduce the pressure as the level of brake fluid drops. Our technicians will thoroughly investigate the system, and find and fix the problem.
If you have any problems with your brakes, call us right away at Koons Kia of Owings Mills. Our Kia-trained technicians will fix the problem, and you’ll be driving safely again in no time.

Introducing the New 2022 Kia Carnival
Minivans are often judged solely on their ability to drop the kids off at school. This is not the case with the 2022 Kia Carnival, which performs like a minivan while giving drivers a little extra enjoyment with superior handling and exterior styling. It’s a brand new entry into the minivan category, so let’s take a closer look to see what it has to offer.
Basics About the Kia Carnival
The Kia Carnival is a new minivan for 2022 with three rows of seats that can haul up to eight passengers. Available in four trim levels, the Carnival can be configured to suit a variety of lifestyles. It offers brand-new SUV-like styling and performance features that set it apart from other minivans. In short, the Carnival performs all the key functions of a minivan while delivering some of the sporty style and handling of an SUV.
The Carnival boasts an incredible amount of interior cabin and cargo space. The optional panoramic sunroof opens things up even further, and the modern dashboard design includes an optional digital gauge display. The infotainment system incorporates a standard 8.0-inch touchscreen that can be upgraded to a 12.3-inch version. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and there are up to nine USB ports available throughout the Carnival’s cabin.
New Features
The Kia Carnival is all-new for 2022, essentially updating and replacing the model formerly known as the Kia Sedona. It has updated styling to go along with new features and technology that place it among the best minivans on the market today. Notably, the exterior is styled with attractive crossover-like proportions. In terms of driving experience, the lighter and stronger platform delivers an improvement in driving dynamics and noise reduction.
On the inside, you’ll enjoy much more cargo space and comfortable seating for up to eight people. There are also new second-row seat configurations, including the option to fold the center seat into a table with integrated cup holders. Up front, there’s a newly-designed large center console as well as an optional dual-screen infotainment system. Numerous driver assistance and safety features come standard, including automated emergency braking.
Performance and Safety Features
Regardless of which trim level you choose, the Kia Carnival is powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that delivers 290 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, this front-wheel-drive vehicle offers a smooth ride with solid handling. If you enjoy taking the family out on weekend trips, the Carnival can also tow up to 3,500 pounds.
The IIHS rated the 2022 Carnival as a Top Safety Pick based on crash test results, and multiple safety features come standard as well. These include blind-spot monitors, low-speed automatic emergency braking, active lane control, and a driver attention warning.
These are some of the notable features of the Kia Carnival minivan. It’s brand new to the market for 2022 and definitely deserves a closer look. Call or stop by Koons Kia of Owings Mills to take it for a test drive and discover why the Carnival may be right for you.
Trim Levels of the 2022 Kia Forte
The sleek and stylish 2022 Kia Forte brings a whole lot of performance, comfort, and features to the table, and all in a very budget-friendly vehicle! Even at its simplest trim level, the 2022 Forte has a lot going for it, and it just gets better from there. To help you decide which package of features and looks is the right fit for you, we’ve put together a quick guide to the trim levels of the 2022 Kia Forte. Enjoy!
Forte FE
Despite being the lowest trim level for the new Forte, the FE trim comes equipped with a pretty generous amount of features. This trim, like the LXS and GT Line, is powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine which is paired with an automatic transmission and, along with every Forte, an FWD drivetrain. Inside is an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, air conditioning, cruise control, remote keyless entry, and more.
Forte LXS
The next trim level up from the FE is the Forte LXS, which comes with a few additional features, and an optional technology package. The LXS comes standard with 16-inch alloy wheels and 60/40 split-folding second-row seating. The technology package can be added to this and includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, heated outboard mirrors, and a “safe exit warning” for passengers on the street side of the vehicle.
Forte GT Line
The Forte GT Line takes all the features of the previous trim levels and dials the sportiness up a notch. The GT Line includes all of the features in the technology package (which were optional in the LXS), and also comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED fog lights, a rear spoiler, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, alloy pedals, dual-zone automatic climate control, a rear-seat center armrest, upgraded 10.2-inch infotainment screen, and much more.
The GT Line trim also opens drivers up to a host of option packages. These are the GT Technology package, with an electronic parking brake and intelligent cruise control, the Sport Premium package, with a 10-way adjustable driver’s seat, faux-leather seating, and a ventilated and heated driver’s seat, and the Premium package, with an electronic parking brake, power sunroof, and wireless phone charger.
Forte GT
The final trim level for the Forte, the Forte GT, upgrades the Forte’s powertrain to the peppy 1.6L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. To the features of the GT Line it adds 18-inch alloy wheels, wireless phone charger, paddle shifters, and sliding sun visors. The Technology package is still available, and a new GT2 package has been added, which comes with all the features of the GT Line Premium package plus a power sunroof, rear parking assist, faux-leather seating, and more.
The Forte GT can also be bought with a manual transmission and is in fact the only Forte trim level to be available with a manual. The 6-speed manual runs on the same engine as the automatic Forte GT.
Each of the Forte trims certainly looks great on paper, but they look even better in person. Come on down and visit us at Koons Kia of Owings Mills today, and check out our variety of quality new and used vehicles for yourself!

Turbocharged Powertrain
Both options are paired with an ultra-responsive 8-speed automatic transmission that features steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters for added engagement. The Stinger’s rear-wheel drive powertrain layout makes it easy to kick the back end out during spirited drives. While on trips through inclement weather, the optional all-wheel drive system with torque vectoring instills confidence.

In addition to being quick in a straight line, the Stinger is equally adept at tackling the most technical corners you can find. Its MacPherson strut front suspension and 5-link rear suspension are nicely complemented by high-performance dampers. GT1 and GT2 models come standard with electronically controlled suspension and large Brembo brakes that quickly bring the car to a halt.
Thanks to its sharp steering, the Stinger changes direction with amazing speed and precision.
Premium Interior

As reminders of the car’s performance-oriented nature, the steering wheel features a flat bottom and the seats are deeply bolstered. Available Napa leather upholstery and customizable LED accent lighting are beautiful touches. Kia’s Solar Control Glass protects the interior from UV rays and heat buildup.
The Stinger’s cabin offers some of the best passenger space in its class with up to 93.8 cubic feet available. Its fastback body also means generous cargo space at 23.3 cubic feet.
