Set on the outskirts of Baltimore, Owings Mills, MD is a town steeped in history and natural beauty. Although small, there are loads of things to do and see and also plenty of great restaurants serving some of the best seafood on the eastern seaboard. From succulent oysters to juicy lobster tails, here are our favorite seafood restaurants in and around town.
Hook & Reel Cajun Seafood Restaurant
For truly authentic Cajun flavors, head over to Hook & Reel Cajun Seafood Restaurant and get stuck into one of their seafood feasts. It’s all about sharing here, and the house cooks up huge family platters full of every kind of seafood you can imagine from crab to oysters. The Mega Bowls are the most popular here and include an array of shellfish served up with some sides.
Rock & Toss Crab House
From delicious, freshly shucked oysters for starters to massive sharing platters, the chefs at the Rock & Toss Crab House never disappoint. Under the “Get your hands dirty” part of the menu, you will find a huge selection of shellfish, all of which is served by the pound. Or, you can go for a combo meal that includes a combination of shellfish served with 2 portions of potato and 2 corns.
Reter’s Crab House and Grille
Leaving the massive, sharing buckets of seafood behind, we head to Reter’s Crab House and Grille where the menu features a much more modern selection of dishes. The chefs have been creative when writing this menu, and there are a ton of internationally inspired meals such as the shrimp and crab quesadilla and the British classic; fish and chips. There is also plenty of fresh fish and a raw and steamer bar serving up mussels, oysters, and clams.
Don’t fancy seafood? Don’t worry, as Reter’s Crab House and Grille also serve up plenty of land-based meats too, including a ton of different burgers, wraps, steaks, salads, and baby back ribs.
Crab Queen
A local landmark, the chef and owner of crab queen was born and raised right here in Maryland, and she cooks up some absolutely incredible local classics. On the menu, you will find delectable dishes such as crab cakes, grilled salmon, and lobster tails, but the main attractions are the platters and the sandwiches.
The seafood platter, featuring snow crab, lobster tails, and crab cakes served with 2 sides is great for a family feast, and the catfish sub and lobster grilled cheese are ideal for a solo eater. If you’re traveling with vegetarians and vegans then Crab Queen is also an ideal location as they serve up a selection of vegan meals including Beyond Burgers with vegan cheese.
