Trim Levels of the 2023 Kia Niro
The Kia Niro is back with a brand-new design for 2023. This hybrid crossover SUV comes with five trim levels. This guide will highlight the standout features of each trim, so you know which is most suitable for you.
Basics About the Kia Niro
The Korean manufacturer has been producing this electrification-focused vehicle since 2016, and it has gone from strength to strength. It is available in three versions; hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric battery. The 2023 edition of this five-seater continues to combine great fuel economy with a cool modern design.
New/Unique Features
The 2023 edition of this vehicle has been completely revamped on the inside and out. The design is inspired partly by the HabaNiro concept vehicle that was released in 2019. Compared to the 2022 edition, you can expect more room for cargo, more space for passengers, extra safety features, and a notably more powerful plug-in hybrid model.
The “green zone” drive mode is a notable new feature available in both hybrid models. This feature uses sat-nav technology to automatically switch the vehicle into EV mode when driving in neighborhoods, near schools and hospitals, or in frequently visited areas such as the driver’s home or workplace.
Trim Levels
LX
The base level trim comes with 16-inch alloy wheels. It’s packed with safety features, including automatic emergency brakes, blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic, and lane-following assist. The 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system is compatible with Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
EX
The EX trim adds a lot of cool and useful features. These include a power driver’s seat, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing windscreen wipers, and smart cruise control technology. The infotainment system is boosted up to a 10.25-inch screen system on this trim.
EX Touring
You’ll upgrade to 18-inch alloy wheels with the EX Touring trim. You’ll be able to make use of a sunroof, LED fog lights, LED interior lights, and power-folding side-view mirrors.
SX
The SX trim adds some extra luxury with vegan leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a power liftgate, and an eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. The gloss black exterior accent trim and SynTex seat trim add a touch of extra style to this model.
SX Touring
This trim combines the best features of the SX and the EX touring trims. Essentially then, it’s the SX vehicle with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED lights, and all the aforementioned safety features.
This electric SUV provides great value for money in all of its trims. If you’re interested in this or any other Kia vehicle, make sure to visit us at Koons Kia of Owings Mills. Our experts are ready to answer all your questions and make sure you’re happy with your purchase.

Does Your Kia Need a New Car Battery?
Are you struggling to start your car on cold mornings? If you are, then your battery might be on its last legs. Let’s take a look at the warning signs of a failing car battery. If you notice the following four indications of trouble, visit your local Kia dealer for a new car battery right away.
Your Engine Won’t Start
The battery powers both the starter and the ignition coils. If you find that you can’t start your engine in the morning, then you have some sort of battery problem. It might be that the battery is good but temporarily out of juice.
In this case, the battery drained because your headlights or other electronics were left on overnight. Alternatively, your alternator might have failed to charge the battery during your last drive. Sometimes extreme temperatures can also cause a battery to prematurely drain.
Do You Have a Bad Battery or Alternator?
When your car fails to start, you’ll need to jump-start it. When you do so, notice if the engine keeps going or not. If the engine dies shortly after, then your alternator has a problem. But if the engine keeps going, the alternator’s fine, and it was the battery that was the problem. Keep an eye out for further problems indicating the battery needs to be replaced.
Stalling at Traffic Lights
Car batteries tend to last between three and five years. When they start to fail, they require more energy from the alternator to recharge. At the same time, they provide voltage less effectively.
The combination of these problems is more pressure on your engine and a less reliable charge to the ignition coils. This will cause your car to idle roughly and even stall while you’re resting in idle, such as when pausing at traffic lights.
Dimming Headlights
If you suspect a dying battery, you can run a test by pulling up your car facing a garage door. Keeping your headlights on, turn your engine off. Then see how much the headlights dim as the battery takes over, unassisted by the alternator. If your headlights dim significantly, then your battery isn’t charging or distributing energy properly.
Damaged Casing or Connectors
Inspect your battery for signs of damage. Any ashy discoloration to the connectors means they’re corroded, and the battery will have to be replaced. Likewise, any warping in the battery casing means the battery’s bad. And, of course, get rid of a battery that’s cracked and leaking battery acid.
How a Kia Dealer Tests Your Battery
If you’re unsure whether or not to replace your battery, ask a technician at your local dealership to test it. In addition to a visual inspection, they can run a variety of tests, including load testing, conductance testing, refractometer testing, and voltage testing with a multimeter.
Visit Koons Kia of Owings Mills today to have your battery examined or replaced. We’re one of Maryland’s most trusted car dealerships.
