When you’re sitting in your office waiting for the day to end, you might look outside and see how beautiful the weather is. And the Owings Mills area is blessed with fantastic weather – especially in the spring, summer, and fall! To help you get out and enjoy the weather and the stunning natural environment, we’ve compiled a list of our favorite outdoor activities near Owings Mills, MD. So, hop in your Kia and check them out!

1. Hiking in Soldier’s Delight Natural Environment Area

There’s really no better way to get out into nature and breathe in the fresh air than taking a long hike into the wilderness. And one of our favorite places to do that is Soldier’s Delight Natural Environment Area. The area covers a massive 1,900 acres of pristine wilderness, featuring rolling meadows as well as dense forests. And don’t think that you can cover all of it in a quick jaunt. There are seven miles of marked hiking trails!

The Soldier’s Delight Natural Environment Area is a great place to experience some plant and animal species that you won’t find often, as there are more than 39 species of rare, endangered, or threatened plant species that call the area home. Due to this, and to keep the trails well-maintained and in good shape, both cycling and horseback riding are not allowed in the park.

2. Go a Few Rounds at Caves Valley Golf Club

What’s better than getting into a comfortable Kia with your family or friends, arriving at the greens, and feeling that ever-satisfying ping of your driver against a golf ball? It’s hard for us to think of many things that beat it! And one of the best places around Owings Mills to play golf is without a doubt Caves Valley Golf Club. With nine hundred acres of pastures, woods, and wetlands, it’s an easy place to feel the natural world around you.

When you’re finished with your round of 18 holes, you can have a professional training session at Cave Valley Golf Club’s state-of-the-art performance center, which has chipping greens, putting greens, and sand bunkers where you can hone your game. Then you can go to their amazing restaurant, where their chef uses the freshest and finest ingredients to create some true culinary masterpieces.

3. Paddle Out at Liberty Reservoir

We all know how hot and humid Maryland can get during the summer months, and there’s no way we prefer to spend those stifling days more than a relaxing day at Liberty Reservoir. The reservoir, located just to the west of Owings Mills, runs a total of 18 kilometers with a total shoreline length of 131 kilometers!

At the Reservoir, you can go fishing for cold-water fish species such as largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and white perch. So make sure you get out there early to catch a trophy fish!

To bring everyone along with you on these great outings, make sure you’re driving a spacious vehicle like the 2022 Kia Rio. Check one out at Koons Kia of Owings Mills today!
