1. Serpentine Trail

The flat grasslands this trail winds through make a great option for hikers of all skill levels, as well as a great setting for a picnic or to come look out at the stars at night. 4. McKeldin Rapids Hike

More scenic water features are waiting for you at McKeldin Rapids Hike. Rapidly-flowing streams create beautiful little waterfalls for sights and sounds that will delight your senses. The trails here are fairly easy to tackle, so a hiker of any skill level can enjoy the beautiful scenery here.

5. Red Run Valley Trail

Make sure you come properly equipped to Red Run Valley Trail, because the rocky terrain means a good pair of hiking boots is advisable. Along with the main trail, there are several offshoot trails for you to explore here, letting you plan several walks here and get a different experience each time.

6. Northwest Regional Park

The playground and athletic fields at Northwest Regional Park make it great for all sorts of outdoor activities, and that includes the paved hiking paths you can find here. This park is also dog-friendly, so your four-legged companion is welcome to join you for your hike.

7. Choate Mine Trail

Beginner hikers who are still getting in shape will appreciate the fact that the Choate Mine Trail loops back around to where you started, so you won’t have to plan for an exhausting return trip. You’ll see the fenced-off abandoned mines here from a safe distance, letting you get a look at local history.
