Every vehicle needs routine service to keep it running in top shape. However, sometimes this isn’t enough, and things can go wrong in your vehicle that require immediate repair. There are usually tell-tale signs letting you know when there’s something wrong with your vehicle. Below, we’ll tell you all about the signs that you need to visit your Kia dealer for a transmission repair ASAP.

1. Your Gearshifts Are Delayed

Automatic transmissions should seamlessly slide into the right gear of their own accord. If the transmission doesn’t immediately engage when you accelerate after stopping or go from park to drive, then there’s something wrong. It’s time to head to the dealer to get your vehicle checked out as soon as you can.

If you drive a manual transmission car, then you might notice that it’s suddenly hard to shift gears. Alternatively, your RPMs might surge while your engine doesn’t respond. Replacing the clutch in a manual transmission car often fixes this issue, but it may still be a problem with the transmission.

2. Your Vehicle Has Low Transmission Fluid Levels

If you routinely check your fluid levels, then you’ll notice when your transmission fluid level is much lower than usual. This could be a sign that your transmission fluid is leaking.

If you haven’t spotted a pool of transmission fluid near your vehicle, then it’s most likely leaking under the hood and could be causing damage to other parts of your vehicle. You’ll also know if your transmission fluid is leaking if you spot a sweet-smelling red fluid under your car.

3. Your Vehicle Is Emitting a Burning Smell

Burning odors often indicate that your vehicle or a component in it is overheating. They can also indicate that your transmission fluid has gotten old and is starting to burn up. Burning transmission fluid often smells similar to burned rubber. Make sure you pull over if you catch a whiff of this aroma, because if you keep driving, then the problem will escalate.

4. Your Vehicle Is Making Unfamiliar Noises

You’re probably used to all the noises your vehicle typically makes. However, if it starts making any new noises, then there may be something wrong. You should get it serviced to make sure there’s nothing strange going on under the hood. New humming and whining sounds often indicate that your transmission is breaking down or that you need a fluid flush.

Have you experienced any of the problems outlined above? If so, then you need to come straight to Koons Kia of Owings Mills so we can check out your transmission. We’ll get it fixed promptly and get you back out on the road.
