Trim Levels (Exterior)
When considering the 2022 Kia Sorento, you can choose among five trims: the LX, S, EX, SX, and SX Prestige. Its size is similar to that of some midsize two-row SUVs, but the Sorento has the convenience of the third row of seats. The top-of-the-line SX Prestige has an off-road X-Line package that adds a roof rack and bumpers with skid plates.
Engine (Power)
The 2022 Sorento has two powerful engine options, so you can't go wrong with either. The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which is found on the lower two trims, produces 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. The optional 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine found on the upper trims produces 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, but the turbocharged one has a dual-clutch transmission with faster shifts. The SUV also comes standard with front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is available.
Performance
When it comes to fuel economy, the 2022 Sorento earns some of the best fuel economy numbers compared to other vehicles in its class. With the base engine and front-wheel drive, the SUV gets an EPA-estimated 24 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. Opting for all-wheel drive drops the numbers slightly to 23 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.
The turbocharged engine and front-wheel drive will get 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, while all-wheel drive will get 22 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. Also, the Sorrento can tow up to 2,000 pounds with the base engine and 3,000 with the turbocharged one.
Interior
Stepping into any 2022 Sorento vehicle, you'll find impressive materials and elegant styling. To keep everyone connected, the SUV comes standard with an 8-inch touch-screen display, along with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity.
