Trim Levels (Exterior)
You have five trims to choose from, the LX, LXS, LXS Special Edition, Touring Special Edition, and the top-tier EX Premium. The Niro has an aerodynamic appearance with a large nose, sloped windshield, and raked roofline with sporty roof rails. The back of this SUV features a high-performance-style spoiler. The front of the Niro has a futuristic look with a tiger-nose grille, swept-back LED headlights, and a large dropped valance with stripes of LED fog lights. Express your unique personality with color choices, such as Aurora Black Pearl or Runway Red.
Engine (Power)
Under the hood of all five 2022 Kia Niro trims, you'll find a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an AC synchronous-permanent magnet electric motor. This full-parallel hybrid system creates 139 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. Power gets stored in a 240-volt lithium-ion polymer battery. A dual-clutch six-speed automatic transmission pairs with the engine and electric motor.
Performance
This steel-body construction SUV comes with front-wheel drive. You'll notice how smooth the Niro handles due to its front MacPherson struts, rear independent multilink suspension system, and front and rear stabilizer bars. If you'd like to tow a small boat or trailer, the 2022 Niro has a towing capacity of 2,000 pounds when properly equipped.
Interior
Elegant and spacious, the Niro has two rows of seats that can fit up to five people with an overall passenger volume of 100.9 cubic feet. Both the LX and LXS come with premium cloth seats, the LXS Special Edition comes with cloth and leather upholstery, and the Touring Special Edition and EX Premium have upscale SynTex seating material. The three upper trims come with power-adjustable front seats. The EX Premium has heated and ventilated front seats, a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel, and a built-in cargo cover. With both rows of seats upright, the Niro has 19.4 cubic feet of cargo space. Fold the second row down and you get up to 54.5 cubic feet of cargo space.
Kia's UVO link infotainment system comes with an 8-inch touch screen on the three lower trims and a 10.25-inch touch screen with voice-command navigation on the two upper trims. All of the 2022 Niro trims have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, Bluetooth connectivity, and a six-speaker sound system. The upper trims come with satellite and HD radio, a wireless charging pad, and a premium eight-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
Safety Features
Whether taking the family on a road trip or co-workers on the workweek commute, you'll have peace of mind that the 2022 Niro, except for the base LX trim, comes equipped with Kia's Drive Wise bundle of driver-assist technology.
