Trim Levels (Exterior)
Choose from the 2021 Kia Sportage's four trim levels to find your perfect SUV: the LX, S, EX, and SX. The Kia Sportage received a design refresh in the 2020 model year that the 2021 model is carrying on. If you want to customize your SUV with dark accents, opt for the Nightfall Edition or Nightfall Edition Premium packages. The Sportage starts with 17-inch wheels, but 18- and 19-inch versions are available. The S level adds roof rails, power-folding side mirrors with heating functions, and fog lights. Choose the EX for a hands-free tailgate or the SX Turbo for LED headlights.
Engine (Power)
The 2021 Sportage comes standard with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that outputs 181 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. Choose the SX Turbo to enjoy a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 240 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. These engines feature a six-speed automatic transmission.
Performance
The Sportage comes standard with an efficient front-wheel-drive system. For drivers who plan on tackling slick or unpaved roads, there's the available all-wheel-drive system. Choose the SX Turbo to get performance upgrades such as the stronger engine, paddle shifters on the steering wheel, and a sport-tuned suspension. This trim level also includes the adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go to make your highway drives smoother. Properly equipped, the Sportage can tow up to 2,000 pounds. The 2021 Sportage gets up to 23 mpg in the city and 30 on the highway.
Interior
The Sportage seats up to five passengers and gives you more than enough room to pack gear and groceries: 30.7 cubic feet behind the second row and up to 60.1 cubic feet when you have the second row folded down. Progressing through the Sportage's trim levels enables you to customize its list of features. Choose the Sportage S to get simulated leather upholstery. The EX adds heated front seats and dual-zone automatic climate control. If you want it all, the SX Turbo gives you heated and ventilated front seats covered in leather, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, and LED interior lighting.
The Sportage's list of technologies includes the standard 8-inch touch screen, available Harman Kardon eight-speaker audio system, premium navigation system, and satellite radio.
Safety Features
The 2021 Kia Sportage has a few driver-assist technologies standard on every trim level: driver attention warning, lane departure warning, and forward collision avoidance assist. If you upgrade up to the S, you'll also get access to the blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert system that helps you stay more aware of other vehicles behind you. The SX Turbo adds parking sensors for the front and rear. Active safety systems include hill start assist control, downhill brake control, and electronic stability control.
